So adorable

Well, Lucas is finally starting to really like his little sister. It is pretty adorable how he goes up and talks to her and hands her toys if she drops them. He sometimes even shares his trains...and THAT is a BIG deal! :) I think they are about the cutest things ever, but then I am a little bias.

Working Out

Well, we are in full work out and lose weight mode at the Hess household. Tim is training for the Mini marathon in May and I am going to do the 5K b/c I am not as insane as Tim...(or not as athletic). Lucas has been training too...he likes to play on Mommy's Gazelle. The truth is, if we all had the energy of a two year old we would just run circles around the living room for 20 minutes, jump off the couch into some pillows, spin in circles until we got dizzy and then lay on the floor laughing. Sounds like fun to me (and a typical day at our house)!

The Kitchen Renovation

Well, for some reason Tim and I like to buy houses that need completely redone...we tend to regret these decisions sometimes and typically at those times there is alot of cussing involved (not by me). It has kinda become a hobby of ours. Tim is VERY handy with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, etc. I just get to pick colors, paint the colors, and make executive design decisions. We bought this house December 2005 and so far have renovated/dewallpapered every room but one. We are in the midst of the kithchen. I didn't have a full "BEFORE" picture of the kitchen so I grabbed a picture from our Halloween party (my friends don't typically dress like this).
Wasn't it Gorgeous??
Lucas has loved trying to help along the way. Below he is demonstating how to properly use the Steamer for Dewallpapering. It is magic! (I think he would make a good salesman). BIG Thanks to friends and family for helping along the DE-wallpapering process! Every room in this house use yo have UGLY wallpaper and w/o your help I would have gone nuts!!

Here he is helping daddy mud the pantry holes (with his plastic saw and hammer). He is always trying to help- it is really too too cute.
It looks better already doesn't it? Without the wallpaper- it actually looks bigger. We tore out the pantry b/c the sliding doors sucked, not sure what we are doing in there yet. The lighting cove you see above use to be covered by acrylic lenses. We tore off the lenses and the lights and are going to install a new fixture after I paint the ceiling. That is happening tonight- this is finally starting to get exciting!

Monday Morning Chaos...

Ok, this blog is a little long, but all of this only happened in an hour- 7:30-8:30 this morning. Is this a sign of how my week will be? I hope not.
So, we are in the midst of Kitchen work- new lighting, removal of wallpaper, paint, spackle, etc. So therefore everything that is typically on the counter is sitting on the kitchen table or wine buffett. The wine buffet is sitting in the living room, along with Lucas' highchair. He typically doesn't sit in his highchair anymore, but today he figured if he sat there he could watch Curious George while eating oatmeal and yogurt! That idea worked for me too b/c it would give me time to make my breakfast. I started the South Beach diet last week and breakfast is just not as simple as putting a waffle in the toaster anymore. So today I tried Artichoke eggs benedict. Beautiful...but not worth the pain.

So while I am preparing my beautiful breakfast, Lilly awakes and I put her in the bouncer on the table. Lucas has finished his oatmeal and is playing with a big spoon that he got from the utensil holder behind him. I finish peeling the leaves of my artichoke and am talking to Lilly when I realize that Lucas has not only gotten into the utensils but also the spice rack. Italian Seasoning was his choice of spice...which was now covering his entire body, the highchair and the floor. Italian Seasoning with your yogurt anyone?

As I start to brush the spice out of his hair and strip his seasoned covered PJ's I realize that he also has a poopy diaper. So not only does it smell of strong spices...but it smells like Italian Seasoned poop!!
So as I change his diaper and start to clean up the mess, Miss Lilly decided that maybe I needed some help with clean up! She managed to grab the paper towel from the dispensor that was on the table and pull out about 6 sheets. I actually found this pretty cute...and she had such an innocent look on her face.

This reminded me of the toilet paper incident with Lucas when he was 9 months old. So since Lilly is only 4 months old...I think I am in trouble.
About an hour after this I was feeding Lilly on the couch and Lucas pushed a chair over to the kitchen sink where I had hard boiled eggs cooling off in cold water. He started to pull them out and crack them on the bowl (as he has seen Mommy do). Luckily they were hard boiled...so no mess. He always does like to help me bake...I thought it was b/c he got to lick the spoon afterward, but now I am wandering if I have a future chef on my hands. Oh my...another day in the life of the 2 kids. Goodluck to those who are pregnant with the second. Sometimes it can be quite a handful. Am I really suppose to accomplish anything else?

Is the floor better?

OK, So previously I had told you about finding Lucas asleep in weird places in his room...well there have been numerous times since then and some of them I have captured in a picture. What happens is he gets out of bed when he doesn't want to nap and plays for awhile and then ends up falling asleep on the floor. So really, don't worry about big boy/girl beds...just buy a sleeping bag!

Goofball

Lucas wearing the inside of his Construction hat and safety glasses.
Posing for the camera before he goes outside in the mud...he requested the hat and boots.
Lucas is such a goofball sometimes. But being a stay-at-home mom and also trying to work from home, you really need to have that laughter in between the two year old tantrums. Otherwise...I don't think we would make it through the week!

4 month photo shoot

Lilly turned four months old last weekend and we did a little in-home photo shoot. She wasn't really in a smiley mood but serious poses and inquisitive looks are great to capture too!

Lucas the CAT

I wonder if I could fit in here...
Yep! I think it was made just for me!
And out the other side
Look- there is even a window in this little playgym!
Well, if you have cat toys at you house those are just as good to a two year old as anything else. Unlce Ben and Aunt Mandy have 4 cats and between the cat gym, the cat balls and just plain chasing the cats Lucas stayed pretty occupied! Not to mention he got pretty hairy!

The last of the Snow...hopefully

This is what was left of the snow...Lucas just wanted to throw rocks in it- such a boy!
Mommy and her little snowbunny.
Wrigley loves when we play outside...freedom!
Lucas pulling Lilly in the wagon, I didn't think he could pull her in the grass but he just kept going!

Well, these pictures are actually from the end of last week when it just started warming up. Today the snow is officially gone except for one small 7x5 inch pile which of course Lucas still found! No hats or even coats needed today...but suppose to be 40 again Thursday? Who knows. Gotta love that Indiana weather!

Happy Birthday Mom!

You look great mom!

Gotta love that birthday cake!Lilly in her new swimsuit- isn't she adorable?
Today is my mom's 60th birthday and we all got together and celebrated this past weekend in the metropolis of Kokomo, Indiana! It is a 1/2 way point between my sisters who live up North and us Indy dwellers. We went out to dinner and stayed at a hotel, which my parents paid for- Thanks for the Hotel Party Mom! It was great to see everyone- with Joanna's 4 foster kids and Lucas, Lilly and Hannah there was almost one child per adult. Lilly got to go swimming for the first time and with all of us in the pool it looked like we were holding a toddler swimming class...too funny. Great times with great kids! Happy Birthday Mom!

Daddy's Biggest Fans

Lilly asleep 1/2way through the game, Lucas and mom cheering daddy on!
Can you see Tim?
Well, Daddy's biggest fans got to go and watch him play soccer this week. He has been playing in an indoor soccer league once every week since January and finally there was an early game where we got to go and watch! Lucas was interested about the first 1/2 of the game...then he realized that he could climb the bleachers! He did yell out to daddy and wave across the field, he would also say "Go Blue!" but I couldn't get him to say it loud enough...if he would only cheer as loud as he screams!

So cool

Lucas thought he was SO cool this weekend. He loved to wear daddy's sunglasses while we were in the car. He actually wears them on his face now...before he would just put them around his neck! He also got to play his first arcade game (thanks to his uncle Ben). He was actually driving the car though- he took out a few cops and mostly drove on the embankment vs. the road but it was halarious to watch. Now only if I could get one of these arcade games into my living room...that would keep him busy all day!

A weekend of Cousins

Are we the cutest or what?
Lucas and 2nd cousin Olivia giving hugs.
Noah(5-1/4 months), Lilly (3-3/4 months) and Lucas (26 months)

We headed up North this past weekend to visit with the Hess family and to see how much our nephew Noah has grown since Lucas' birthday party in January. The answer is ALOT. He is 5 weeks older than Lilly and about 5 pounds bigger! But what a cutie, and always with a smile! It was great to see everyone and catch up... can't wait till summer at the Lake!
